Description
Well preserved Zlichovaspis rugosa Trilobite accompanied by two Reedops Trilobites on one rockslab. The Zlichovaspis as well as the two Reedops Trilobites show little pustules. They are characteristic on parts of the surface of these species. The eyes of the Zlichovaspis are well preserved and don’t show damage. The eyes of the smaller Reedops are well preserved to. However the eye of the larger Reedops has some preparation marks. These preparation marks are seen also on the glabella and other parts of the thorax of the Trilobite. The Zlichovaspis rugosa Trilobite shows also some preparation marks. The small Reedops shows none. A natural crack in right in front of the cephalon indicates that the Reedops was natural there and not glued on after. The larger one disappears nicely at the end in the rock, which indicates that he was in place there.
An initial crack goes from the right genal spine tip to the front of the left genal spine. Another one almost invisible, shows at the left tail side. These cracks are not avoidable and speak for the authenticity of the Trilobite. Moroccan Trilobites are mined. After cracking the rocks, Trilobite miners look for signs of broken Trilobite inside. When these are discovered, the rocks will be glued together and undergo the preparation process. Moroccan trilobites are often Masterpieces of preparation art. Very scilled preparators take on the often hour intensive preparation.
Zlichovaspis is named after the Zlichov Limestone (original Location Praha Zlichov) in Czechia. Most Zlichovaspis species back then where discovered in these Zlichov Limestones. Zlichov Limestone in Czechia is the equivalent to Emsian elsewhere. Zlichovaspis rugosa and also Reedops occurs in the Pragian Limestones of the Czech Republik and Morocco.
