Description
A high quality Ceratarges ziregensis in all its beauty from Jbel Zireg in Morocco for sale. Ceratarges ziregensis represents the most common (75%) of the three species of the genus Ceratarges found at Djebl Zireg in Morocco. The genus Ceratarges is first described as Lichas armatus (now Ceratarges armatus) from the Eifelian in Germany by Goldfuss. Our species Ceratarges ziregensis here is characterised by high eye stalks. It has a shallow glabella with granules in front of the two horn like spines. There are also small granules on those spines. The Pygidium has no dorsal spine. The two back warts pointing pygidial spines have secondary spines.
The Trilobite shows a glued crack through the right side. These cracks are not avoidable. They occur, when quarry workers crack the rock in order to find fossils. Fossils don’t grow on rocks, they hide inside. Unfortunately in the layers of the hardy Devonian rocks, fossils appear in all directions. Once the rock is broken, the fossil is discovered. Due to the nature of these rocks and the position of the fossil, the fossil is broken too. Experienced Preparators take on the task to glue them back together and to chisel or grind them out. In general cracks and some preparation marks are not avoidable and show that the fossil is real and not faked.
The availability of pneumatic and air abrasive tools makes the work of the preparator even more efficient and qualitative upgraded. In some cases the use of Rewoquat(basically a laundry detergent) does a great job. The use of Rewoquat was discovered in Germany and is used in the preparation of calcified fossils. Features of the eyes, the body-markings (pores etc.) and spines can be easier prepared out of the hardy rocks.
Trilobites like this Ceratarges ziregensis Trilobite from Morocco for sale are often master pieces of preparation art.
The Trilobite measures over 2″ or 5 cm from the Cephalon to the end of the spines. Note that the Cephalon is bend up so the Trilobite would be longer. Some filler is applied to the matrix besides the right side of the tail .
