Description
Cambrian Trilobite Asaphiscus wheeleri from Utah. They don’t get larger. The specimen here is 4.1 cm or 1 5/8 inches in lenght.
The Trilobite Asaphiscus wheeleri is found in the Wheeler Shale in Utah. The species is more rare than his companion Elrathia kingii.
Wheeler Shale occurs around the town of Wheeler in Utah after which it is named. The deposits date to the mid Cambrian period and they are about 507 million years old. Trilobites are preserved in black Calcite and occur in very beautiful preservation.
