Description

The fossil Belemnite Hibolithes for sale here comes from the Treuchtlinger Marble. The marble is quarried near the German town of Treuchtlingen in Bavaria. It is more a compact limestone than a real marble. Geologically the marble is a little older than the Solnhofer Plattenkalk above and dates about 149 Mio years. The hard limestone does not give up fossils easy, but they can be seen on cut and polished slabs. One of them is called the “Devils Finger” in old miners language. It is the fossil Belemnite Hibolithes for sale here. The fossil is 14.5 cm or 5.74 inches long. The polished marble slab is 19 cm or 7.5 inches long and 9 cm or 3.5 inches wide. Wonderful specimen that shows a lot of  the inside structure of the Belemnite.

The fossil Belemnite Hibolithes exists as a genus also in the Solnhofen Limestones.
