Description
The fossil fish Leptolepides sprattiformis is a primitive form of the Teleostei, which resemble modern fishes with bone skeletons. They are one of the most common found fossils in Solnhofen Limestone quarries all over the area.
The slab is 10.5 x 5 inch or 26,5 x 13 cm. The bigger fish is 2.75 inch or 7 cm from the head to the tail. The smaller fish is 1.75 inch or 4,5 cm. A fixative (Tiefengrund) seems to be applied as it is common in the area and carried out by the Preperators there.
