Paralejurus spatuliformis Trilobite from Morocco

Description

Quality Paralejurus spatuliformis trilobite from the Devonian Period of Morocco for sale. The fossil has a initial crack through the pygidium and the thorax of the fossil. These cracks are not avoidable. They occur, when quarry workers crack the rock in order to find fossils. Fossils don’t grow on rocks, they hide inside. Unfortunately in the layers of the hardy Devonian rocks, fossils appear in all directions. Once the rock is broken the fossil is discovered. Due to the nature of these rocks and the position of the fossil, the fossil is broken too. Experienced Preparators take on the task to glue them back together and to chisel or grind them out. In general cracks and some preparation marks are not avoidable and show that the fossil is real and not faked. Preparation marks show on the right eye, tail, head. Left eye shows all the tiny lenses. The people of the Moroccan Sahara Desert established great knowledge of preparation art. With great passion they started to prepare Trilobites with spines and spikes out of the hardy rocks. We can see now all the details which at earlier times where suspected, but not seen in detail. Many new species where discovered, which without them would have burried in the rocks for times to come. They did it! We should all honor and respect these miners, preparators and traders, that opened a window into the past of our planet. We should also acknowledge, that their communities make a living out of that.
