Description

Quality Scabriscutellum furciferum Trilobite for sale from Morocco. Scariscutellum is a genus first described by Golfuss as Bronteus scaber in 1843 (Type species). It is renamed by Richter and Richter in 1953 as Scabriscutellum. There is one almost invisible crack diagonal through the Trilobite. These cracks are not avoidable. They speak for the authenticity of the fossil. Moroccan Trilobites are mined.

Unfortunately in the layers of the hardy Devonian rocks, fossils appear in all directions. Once the rock is broken, the fossil is discovered. Due to the nature of these rocks and the position of the fossil, the fossil is broken too. Experienced Preparators take on the task to glue them back together and to chisel or grind them out.
