Description
Very rare Crioceratites matsumotoi Ammonite from France for sale. This specimen here is enrolled. The Ammonite like all other species of the family can also unroll. The Ammonite comes from the Lower Cretacious and there from the Lower Hauterivian of France. The genus Crioceratites was earlier also named as Crioceras and Ancyloceras. Compared to the other species of Crioceratites, Crioceratites matsumotoi has stronger, corse, a bit unregular ribs compared to the fine regular formed ribs of Crioceratites duvalii or Crioceratites nolani. They both occur at the same location. Crioceratites duvalii comes from the same layers as Crioceratites matsumotoi. It seems Criocetites occurs worldwide. Crioceratites matsumotoi is named after the Japanese Palaeontologist Matsumoto by his college Sarkar.
This rare Crioceratites matsumotoi Ammonite 7 cm or 2.75 inches in diameter.
