Description
Ochre colored Cambrian Trilobite Agraulus ceticephalus for sale. The ochre color comes from rusty Iron Hydroxide that covers the fossils of the location.
Agraulus ceticephalus is well known from the Eccaparadoxides pusillus zone in the middle Cambrian Jince Formation of Skryje in the Czech Republic. The Trilobite occurs also in the Senice beds of the Jelesne Hory Mountains in the Czech Republic and also Wales (UK). Other Trilobites of the Genus Agraulus come from Sweden, New Foundland, France and Germany. The Trilobite has been first described in 1846 by Joachim Barrande. The Cambrian Trilobite Agraulus ceticephalus for sale here is an older fossil. The locations in the out scirts of Skryje, where they have been found previously are under some protection lately. It is still allowed to pick rocks, but digging for fossils is off limits. So therefore, there will be no new finds at the moment.
The Agraulus in the middle is a negative print and measures 1,2 cm or just under 0.5 inches. The head and the other Agraulus specimen are positive. The larger pleura and tail belong to the larger Trilobite Hydrocephalus carens.
