Description

Very well preserved complete Cambropallas telesto from Jbel Ougnat, Morocco for sale. The Cambropallas for sale here has only very minor repairs. The repairs make only about appr. 3 % of the fossil. Repairs show on the right front of the cephalon 3 cm, the left end of tail two three tail pleura 2 cm, behind the right eye 1,5 cm and around the left eye same. Three glued cracks are visible on the back of the rock matrix. The Trilobite fossil itself is 19 cm or 7.5 ” long, from front of the cephalon to the end of the tail. That is good average size.

Cambropallas telesto is the only member of the genus Cambropallas. The same Trilobite was earlier classified under the name of the genus Andalusiana, with remarks, that it somewhat resembles Andalusiana, but somewhat differs from it. It was renamed 1994 by Geyer. I missed that for quite a while, because I knew it as Andalusiana from literature and had a piece in my own collection. Andalusiana from Spain and Cambropallas from Morocco belong to the same family, the Holmiidae.

The rusty orange to redish brown color of the Cambropallas fossils come from Ironoxides, called also Limonite, yellow ochre. It is characteristic for the Trilobites in the Area of that age. They also occour in other Mid Cambrian age fossil locations, for example at the Skrije location of the Jince Shales and Newfoundland.

The whide disc like Cephalon (headshield) of Cambropallas suggests a active swimming lifestile. It is probably good for gliding over the sea floor.

Although there are many talks about fake Moroccan Trilobites, the ones sold here come from reliable suppliers. I do careful examinations, try to burn them with needles, to see if they are made of resin or acryl. In some cases I have xrays done. If I have any doubt, I will not sell them. I guarantie the authenticity off all fossils sold here at www.fossilcave.com, as stated  in terms and conditions. Alternations due to repair will be stated in the above text.

The Cambropallas telesto from Jbel Ougnat, Morocco is an authentic fossil.
