Description
The Jurassic Diptera Insect fossil from Solnhofen area, comes from the famous Solnhofen Limestones in Germany. The Insects that show up in the Solnhofen Lagune lived on nearby land. Astray, wind or streams must have carried them into the salty Solnhofen Lagoon, either already dead or to die on exhaustion. In general Insects are rare in the Solnhofen Limestones. The majority of insects found in the Solnhofen Limestones are Dragonflies with many species.
