Jurassic Shrimp Aeger sinipes from Solnhofen

Description

This Jurassic Shrimp Aeger sinipes for sale comes from the famous Solnhofen Limestone. The species Aeger sinipes is rarer than the usual Aeger tipularius. The fossil is in good condition and  all the antenna prepared out. The crack through the fossil is a mineralised natural crack and not glued. However, to make the plate square there is pieces glued back on. They are not affecting the fossil and are seen in the top part and the left lower corner. There is some preparation marks on the carpax of the Aeger. Aeger tipularius is identifiable on the long spike in front of the carpax. The spike is shorter on Aeger tipularius. The Crustacean Aeger is one of the most found Crustaceans in the Solnhofer Plattenkalk (Solnhofen Limestone). When I say that , i don’t say there is a lot of them. Fossils in the Solnhofen Plattenkalk deposits are rare in general. Only mining activity over the years brought them up in time.

Due to less demand in decorative stones the production of Solnhofen Limestones slowed down since the 1990’s. Many quarries closed down. The final blow came in July 2023, when production seized (for now?). The storages for Solnhofen Limestones are full.
