Plesioteuthis prisca / soft tissue, inner organs for sale

Description

Unique crazy preserved fossil Cephalopod Plesioteuthis prisca from the Solnhofen Limestones in Germany for sale. The specimen here is well preserved. All the soft tissue including inner body parts or organs, tentacles, and fins are present.

Even for experts it is hard to interpret the inner body parts of a fossil Cephalopod. It seems there are remnants of the buccal mass (mouth parts) with at least one part of the beak in front. It is connected to a cristallized tract which represents the tract that leads to the stomach. That part appears to be filled with food debris, which the Cephalopod ingested before he died. The stomach would be the empty spot behind. Another empty sack goes up on top of the gladius ( latin: sword). That could be the inc sack or part of the tube that leads to it. The inc sack is probably emptied, the discoloration of the slab in that area points to that. Inc shows often in brown or black color if inside the inc sack. Some arms have some fine structure. The gladius is nicely preserved in place.

The fossil Cephalopod Plesioteuthis prisca here is 10.5 inches or 27 cm long. The slab is 12.4″ or 31.5 cm long and 6.75″ or 17 cm wide.
