Description
These Harpides and Parvilichas Trilobites for sale appear on one slab. They both show great preservation and structure. The in some parts of the Fezouata Formation typical red color adds to their beauty.
The Fezouata Formation is deposited at a time, when Africa and South America where connected. The position of Africa back then was under the South Pole. The fossils of the Fezouata Formation are usually covered with a dust of Pyrite (leading to brown coloration) or tin minerals (leading to a red coloration). This is a similarity to the Cambrian Chengjang Shale in China. Another similarity exists in the composition of taxa to the Cambrian Burgess shale of Canada.
It is believed, that the Fezouata Formation was deposited in an offshore environment. The waves stirred up in storms and winds deposited sediments right there and fast. That led to the unique preservation of the fossils.
The Harpides Trilobite is 4.6 cm or 1.8 ” long. The rare Parvilichas Trilobite is 4.7 cm or 1.8″ long. The Parvilichas spine shows a almost invisible crack. The Harpides and Parvilichas Trilobites are both in in top condition. Museum quality!
